Hours of Operation
Tanpopo Child Care operates from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Please note that we are closed on the following British Columbia holidays:
In addition, Tanpopo Child Care will be closed for the period around Christmas to New Year. Any closure days or adjusted hours will be communicated to parents and caregivers in advance. We also follow the Vancouver School Board’s decisions during unsafe weather conditions to ensure the safety of our children and staff.

Gradual Entry
At Tanpopo Child Care, we understand the importance of a gradual transition for children joining our program. Our gradual entry process begins with short visits, typically one hour, allowing children to familiarize themselves with our environment and educators in a relaxed setting. This phased approach ensures that children feel comfortable and confident as they become fully integrated into our program, setting the stage for a smooth and successful transition to Tanpopo Child Care. We gradually extend the duration of their visits, progressing through the following stages: • Half day until before lunch, • After lunch, before nap time, •After nap times, and longer.
Clothing
Clothing
We kindly ask that children wear comfortable and seasonally appropriate clothing for playtime. Regardless of the weather, we enjoy outdoor activities. Please be prepared for outdoor play rain or shine. During outdoor or art activities, there's a chance clothes may get a bit dirty. This simply indicates they've been thoroughly enjoying themselves.
What to Bring
- Water bottle (we keep the bottle at a childcare)
- A family picture (we put it on the family tree)
- Sheets and blanket
- Extra clothes (tops, bottoms, underwear, and socks)
- Emergency blanket – Heat Retention
- Summer – hat, sunscreen, swimwear
- Winter – snow suit, boots, groves, hat
- Rainy season – raincoat, boots
* Please remember to label all belongings with your child’s name. This not only helps us keep track of items but also provides children with the opportunity to recognize the letters of their name.
